I am a retired family doctor, interested in all sorts, but especially writing and literature. So much so that I completed an M.A. (Masters) in Creative Writing in 2017 and moved on to gain a PhD in 2022, with a biographical novel about an 18th-century lady poet. I write essays, short stories and poetry and am working now on a second novel. I’ve enjoyed studying the world of Gothic and early Romantic literature in the Georgian era, a world where female authors were able to shine, although sometimes only under a male pseudonym. My next book will investigate the life of a medical doctor in the 18th century, but mainly from the viewpoint of his long-suffering sister. Meanwhile I enjoy taking a sideways look at life for silver surfers in present-day Britain.
